Lezama to house Basque athletes
Athletic Club and the Basque Team Foundation have reached an agreement for Lezama to accommodate several young athletes
Athletic Club has reached an agreement with the Basque Team Foundation to house several of their scholarship athletes at the halls of residence in Lezama.
The Club has responded to Basque Team’s needs, with Lezama being the perfect place to accomodate the young athletes due to its available rooms and the fact its already has facilities in place to help train top-level footballers.
As one of Basque Team’s main collaborators, Athletic Club is committed to the growth of sport in the Basque Country. Lezama has already received its first two athletes, Olympic javelin thrower Odei Jainaga and marathon runner Hamid Ben Daoud, accompanied by coach Hassan Redad.
The second group, which consists of five surfers, will arrive on January 10. Ariane Ochoa, Janire Gonzalez Etxabarri, Rubén Vitoria and Bitor Garitaonaindia will move into their new accomodations along with their coach Filipe Anjos.
Whether it be in the water, on the track, or on the tarmac, all of them are great talents. We are sure that they will soon achieve world and Olympic success, such as that of our goalkeeper Unai Simón, who was a silver medalist in Tokyo 2021.
