Enjoying Walking Football

Exciting. This is the word that could best define the experience lived by each and every one of the members of the Athletic Club Fundazioa after achieving a meritorious third place in Leverkusen, within the specialty of Walking Football.

A total of 18 teams played the tournament in the magnificent facilities of the Otto Bayer Stadium in Cologne.

 Athletic Club Fundazioa did not have it easy a priori, as it was framed within a demanding group along with Club Brugge, Newcastle, Rangers, Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen B.

After a tough and demanding first rotation of results, the rojiblancos led their group, sneaking into the final 3-along with Bayern Leverkusen A and Schalke 04.

After two hard-fought matches against the Bavarians, in which there was no lack of courage and concentration on either side, the Bilbao side closed their participation in third position. Finally, the great local push of the two powerful German teams prevailed.

Sport, enjoyment and, why not say it, competition, have come together to demonstrate once again that physical activity does not end at a certain age, but continues for as long as necessary to guarantee a better quality of life.

This sports specialty, which has begun to offer so much to those athletes over 50 years of age, has once again offered the possibility to all its participants to enjoy an unforgettable day.
