Euskaltel, the leading telecommunications operator in the Basque Country, and Athletic Club have formalised the renewal of the company's sponsorship agreement with Athletic Club Women for the current season, as well as the deal to continue as the Club's telecommunications provider and be an Official Member of the Athletic Club Foundation.
The agreement was signed on Friday morning at the Lezama, with Jon Ander de las Fuentes, president of Euskaltel, and Jon Uriarte, president of Athletic Club, in attendance. Athletic Club Women head coach Iraia Iturregi, captain Garazi Murua and Irene Oguiza also took part in the event.
The Euskaltel logo will continue to be featured on the front of the team's official playing and training shirts and the operator will maintain the focus of its sponsorship towards Athletic Club Women, a reflection of Athletic's values and commitment to equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
In addition, Euskaltel is renewing its deal as Athletic Club's supplier, working with Athletic as a strategic partner in telecommunications to develop solutions focused on the Club's digital transformation.
Speaking about the renewal, Jon Uriarte thanked "Euskaltel for their support for almost ten years".
He added: "It is a collaboration that has allowed us, above all, to develop women's football at the Club and to create a good youth base of which all Athleticzales are very proud."
Jon Ander de las Fuentes highlighted that Athletic and Euskaltel "share values and feelings in an agreement that has been very beneficial for both parties. Our commitment to women's sport is clear and we want to continue in this direction."
Athletic Club and Euskaltel began a close relationship more than nine years ago, signing an agreement in 2013 whereby the Basque operator became the Club's sponsor and supplier.
The partnership was reinforced in 2016, the season in which Euskaltel became the main sponsor of Athletic Club Women, and the first organisation to display its logo on the jersey of the women's first team, staying there ever since.
Furthermore, by virtue of the agreement, Euskaltel customers will be able to enjoy experiences, days out and events throughout the season. One of these experiences available to customers of the Basque telecommunications operator will take place on Saturday at San Mamés during the Basque Derby between Athletic Club Women and Real Sociedad.
