Bilbao City Council and Athletic Club announce a very special gift for Iribar in a joint letter for his 80th birthday
Jose Angel Iribar, the most capped player in Athletic Club history, turns 80 today (March 1). In a club full of legends, Iribar - also known as El Txopo - is perhaps the greatest of them all or, certainly, the one who inspires the most admiration and affection.
Bilbao City Council and Athletic Club have decided to give Iribar a very special present for the occasion, taking advantage of the club celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2023. They have communicated this to Iribar through a letter published together by both institutions, because the gift is on behalf of all fans, and signed by Bilbao mayor Juan Mari Aburto and Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte.
