Naroa Uriarte renews contract until 2025

The Athletic Club Women defender extends her stay in Bilbao for another two years

Athletic Club Women defender Naroa Uriarte has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep her with the Lionesses until June 30, 2025.

The 22-year-old centre-back, an Under-17 World Cup winner, has made 34 appearances for the first team - five of them this season - and recently underwent surgery to put an end to lingering injury issues.

"My dream has come true. I have my family, my friends... everyone is here. On daily basis, you can see the commitment being made to the team. What could be better than being in Lezama," Uriarte said about signing a contract extension with the club she has supported her entire life.

She was accompanied by Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte and Director of Women's Football Xabi Arrieta for the signing ceremony at Ibaigane Palace.

The defender arrived at Lezama from Bizkerre FT in the 2016/17 season and, prior to that, played for C.D Larramendi. She made her first-team debut in Seville against Real Betis on 22 February 2020. Naroa was a mainstay in the reserve team for four seasons, until making the definitive leap to the first team in 2020/21. However, in December 2021, she suffered a serious knee injury which limited her participation that season.

Naroa won the Under-17 World Cup in Uruguay alongside her teammates Nerea Nevado and Paula Arana. Uriarte is a talented, young centre-back who will be ready to give her best next season.
