San Mames bids farewell to Mikel Balenziaga
The player from Zumarraga was honoured by his team-mates and supporters
After 321 games and 12 seasons at Athletic Club, the full-back from Guipuzcoa will leave the club on 30 June. At the end of the match against Elche CF, Balenziaga was honoured by the Club, who presented him with a commemorative shirt prepared for the occasion.
His teammates and members of the coaching staff made a walkway of honour for him, which he walked through with his son in his arms, before doing a lap of honour. The player from Zumarraga stopped at the supporters' stand where, as well as receiving a picture of the Herri Harmaila, he sang the "Txoria txori" shortly before he unfurled a large banner in appreciation of his time as an Athletic player.
