Information from Athletic Club to its members and fans about the Club's decisions with regards to recent events concerning Luis Rubiales
In light of the events that took place at the FIFA Women's World Cup final concerning the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, and his subsequent conduct, both in statements to the media and at this morning's Extraordinary Assembly, which the Club decided not to attend, Athletic Club wishes to state the following to its members and fans:
1. Athletic Club does not approve of the actions and words of RFEF president, Luis Rubiales, neither those at the Women's World Cup nor at today's Assembly, as they go against the principles of equality and respect that govern society.
2. As a consequence of the above, the president of Athletic Club has informed the RFEF of his decision to step down from his current position as a member of the RFEF's Board of Directors.
3. Athletic Club supports and trusts in the measures taken by the Consejo Superior de Deportes (Spanish National Sports Council) in order to resolve this situation.
