Biscay-born actor Itziar Ituño  has been named Athletic Club's 125th anniversary ambassador for October. Born in 1974, Itziar has very fond childhood memories of watching the trophy parades on "La Gabarra".

"I remember I went to Bilbao by bus with my dad, we got as far as Bailén street and from there we saw the entire crowd. It was incredible," Ituño said about the experience.

Proud of her roots and identity, Itziar is never afraid to talk about her love of The Basque Country or Athletic Club. "When I'm abroad and people ask me where I'm from, sometimes they don't know where or what The Basque Country is. I always ask them if they know Athletic, and when they say yes, I tell them I'm from there."

Restless and multi-talented, with a degree in Sociology, she took her first steps in the world of theatre and short films. Ituño then became a household name throughout the land thanks thanks to her turn as police officer Nekane Beitia in the acclaimed series Goenkale.

After more than a quarter of a century of work, she is now combining global success with a commitment to Basque productions, especially those in Euskera (the Basque Language).

International audiences will know Ituño best for her work on "La casa de papel" (Money Heist), where she had a starring role playing detective Raquel Murillo, who later joined the robbers and became "Lisbon".

Itziar currently has more than five million followers on Instagram and her Wikipedia page has been translated into 32 languages.

Ituño received her badge from club president Jon Uriarte and Jose Angel Iribar during the match between Athletic Club and Getafe CF on 27 September at San Mamés. Accompanied by her father, an emotional and proud Basauri native, who was able to meet his hero Iribar in person, she relished the warmth received from the Athletic fans.

The actor joins Jon Rahm, Jokin Altuna, Honey Tahljieh, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Marino Lejarreta and Joane Somarriba -those two representing the Basque fans and cyclists - María Arthuer, Juan Villoro, Txus Vidorreta and Julián López in the list of Athletic Club ambassadors for our 125th anniversary.
