Aitor Elordi to take ceremonial kick-off against RC Celta

Aitor Elordi, the Basque pelota player from Biscay, will take a ceremonial kick-off before Athletic Club's match against RC Celta gets underway at San Mames on Friday night.

In April, Elordi won the Doubles Championship with Jose Javier Zabaleta after beating Unai Laso and Ander Imaz 13-22. It was the first participation in this competition. 

Two months later, he once again surprised the pelota world by defeating clear favourite Jokin Altuna 18-22 in the final of the Singles Knockout Championship, a competition which Elordi did not initially planned to take part in.

Undoubtedly, a brilliant year for Elordi, who will be recognised at The Cathedral.
