Miguel Isasi Balanzategi to be December ambassador

Miguel Isasi Balanzategi, whose Member code is 77.727, will be the 125th anniversary ambassador for December, representing all  Athletic Club Members.

His was the first number drawn, which is why he was the first person Athletic contacted to offer this nomination.

Miguel Isasi, 65, has been a Member for over 20 years and an Athleticzale his entire life. The Deusto native had no hesitation in accepting the proposal.

Miguel will receive his 125th anniversary and Athletic Club badges on the turf at San Mamés this Saturday 16 December, just before the start of the Athletic Club vs Atlético Madrid.

The team captain on the day and Jon Rahm, the first 125th anniversary ambassador, will present Miguel with the commemorative badges.

Mr Isasi could not hide his excitement about the nomination, dedicating it to his friends and family as he came to Ibaigane to accept it in person and take a photo with the building's iconic Athletic flag.

He said: “It's an immense joy. There are no words to describe the happiness I feel. Ever since I was a child, I have been surrounded by Athleticzales: family, friends, the people who sit close to me at The Cathedral and the rest of San Mames. I dedicate this honour to them."

Interestingly, Miguel Isasi features in a book about Athletic Club's centenary year, appearing in a photograph with the first-team squad in Norway just after they touched down at the airport in Oslo.

Miguel was one of the fans who travelled with the side for that Champions League match against Rosenborg. He can be seen standing between Mikel Lasa and Roberto Ríos - as he himself pointed out, book in hand, when he came to Ibaigane.
