Official statement from Athletic Club

Through this official statement, Athletic Club publicly condemns the incidents that took place outside San Mames yesterday in the build-up to our Copa semi-final match against Atletico Madrid.

Furthermore, Athletic Club reiterates its total commitment to football without violence. There is no place whatsoever for anti-social behaviour or acts of vandalism.

The serious altercations that occurred outside San Mames are a huge discredit to our exemplary supporters and to Athletic Club itself. Those who provoked the disturbances, threw fences, threw bottles and, in short, behaved like mindless hooligans do not represent Athletic Club and deserve the condemnation from all of us who truly make up the Athleticzale family. 

Finally, Athletic Club expresses its sympathy and support to those who were injured and wishes them a speedy recovery.
