Djaló: "I'm fulfilling my dream of returning home"
The winger and Andoni Gorosabel, jointly presented as new Athletic Club signings, admit to being "very happy" to join the club in a "very exciting" year
Alvaro Djaló and Andoni Gorosabel are now officially Athletic Club players. The two signings, who were presented jointly to the media at San Mamés, appeared in the press room together with club president Jon Uriarte, and the director of football, Mikel González, and are looking forward to an exciting season that promises to be extremely demanding with up to four competitions.
Djaló, who comes from Sporting Braga, with whom he played in the Champions League last season, recognises that he is fulfilling one of the goals he set himself as a child.
"I am very happy to be able to return home," he said."It has always been a dream, since I was a child, also for my family and friends. Being here is the biggest present I could give them and I am very happy about it."
The new Zurigorri winger arrives as a solid bet after a great season in Portugal, adding: "I come with a great desire to learn every day and I think I'm at the best moment of my career. We will face the challenges seriously and with a lot of hard work. That's how things will work out on the pitch, in a natural way."
In the case of Gorosabel, he comes to Athletic after having completed a remarkable season at Deportivo Alavés, with great prominence in the backline:
He said: "I've come to a great club, that attracts and that won the Copa and is going to play in Europe, I have taken everything into account. I'm very happy to be here. I'm here to bring enthusiasm, commitment and competitiveness in a very nice and difficult year, with four competitions. We will go for everything."
