New Darío Urzay exhibit at AC Museum
The multi-purpose space hosts the series ‘Shoot Strokes’, created by the Basque artist for the Guggenheim to celebrate the recent Copa final
AC Museoa presents "Shoot Strokes", a series created by artist Darío Urzay for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to celebrate the 2023/24 Copa del Rey Final.
In its original exhibition, the project consisted of several large-format pieces placed in different locations throughout Frank Gehry's building.
From the dozens of action photos, the artist chose 11, six of which form a large installation outside the musuem.
A seventh image was left unplaced and is now on display at San Mames as a background picture for the ‘Shoot Strokes’ series.
The artwork, on a different scale and in a new medium, together with a video, recalls those unforgettable days that concluded with Athletic winning a 25th Copa del Rey. The trophy won at La Cartuja forms part of this temporary exhibition.
