Several supporters have visited our training facilities to bestow awards upon the best players of last season
On the eve of the trip to Rome and before the kick-off of the European competition, we had a morning of celebrations at Lezama on Tuesday. Several supporters' clubs presented various prizes to the members of the first men's and women's squads at the end of each team's training sessions.
The Garras Saria, the mark of the Lion, an award based on votes conducted by members of the fan club after each match. The final tally left no room for doubt. Nahikari García and Nico Williams were the winners.
Unai Simón is a double winner. Bermeo's Peña Bizkai Buru awarded the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe prize named the keeper as player of the season for 2023/24.
Peña El Corquete Rojiblanco, a supporters' group from La Rioja, continued their tradition of giving their player of the season his weight in wine as a reward. And in this case, Simón takes the honours... and the cases of fine Rioja Alta wine.
London's Mr. Pentland came to Lezama and gave their respective awards to Dani Vivian and Maddi Torre. They also paid tribute to Ernesto Valverde for his 400th game as Athletic Club's coach.
And the Peña Athletic All Iron Femenino completed the list of distinctions with the recently established Nekane Diez Saria Award, which went to Ane Azkona.
