SV Werder Bremen studies the Athletic Club model
A large delegation from the historic German club has visited Lezama to learn more about our youth development work and strategic model
SV Werder Bremen, one of the most illustrious clubs in the Bundesliga, has recently visited Lezama with a large delegation within the framework of Athletic Club's Strategic Projects, where the AC Coaches programme is a guiding thread.
Werder Bremen are the club with the highest number of matches in the history of the German league. Die Werderaner have great tradition in youth development and their current coach is the homegrown Thomas Schaaf, who led them to win their last league title in 2003/04 following the two won by his mentor Otto Rehhagel.
SV Werder Bremen draw a lot of inspiration from their youth development work. This is why they wanted to delve into Athletic Club's knowledge and methods. Lezama has a High Performance project which maintains the essence and competitiveness of a unique entity in the world of football. Our methodology is focused on development and the comprehensive growth as footballer and people, while our strategic management model is based on OKR (Objective Key Results), a work methodology oriented towards objectives and results that is also used by Werder Bremen.
Over these last two days, Clemens Fritz (General Director of Football) and Marc Dommer (Academy Director), accompanied by Tarek Brauer, Jan-Claas Alexander and Strategic Directory Raphael Vogt, have shared experiences with their counterparts at Athletic Club, both at Lezama and San Mamés.
