Valverde: “We needed to be more precise”

Ernesto Valverde put Athletic's goalles draw with CD Leganés down to a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

The Lions mostly dominated the match at San Mames and had several chances to score but they weren't accurate enough in front of goal.

"In football, it's all about being clinical. We got into their area a lot, and I thought we would break the deadlock at some point. If we were more precise, we could have won.

"I'm treating it like a hard-earned point after a tough match. We have to move on and keep going, there's no other choice. All the teams in LaLiga are very evenly matched and we have to keep fighting hard."

Athletic will try to secure a place in the Europa League last 16 when we host Viktoria Plzen at The Cathedral on Thursday night for our final league phase match.

He said: "We have to keep going about our business and try to win our upcoming games. Thursday is a great opportunity for us."
