Athletic will face AS Roma in Europa League round of 16
The first leg will be played at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday 6 March, while the tie will be decided a week later at San Mames
Athletic Club have drawn AS Roma in the Europa League round of 16.
The first leg will take place at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on Thursday March 6 at 21:00 CET, with the return fixture coming to Bilbao a week later on Thursday March 13 at 18:45 CET.
The two sides have met on five occasions previously, with our only official meeting being this season's Europa League first phase match in Rome, which finished as a 1-1 draw thanks to a late Aitor Paredes equaliser.
Now led by Claudio Ranieri, Roma's third manager this season, the Italians reached the round of 16 after defeating FC Porto 3-2 in Rome on Thursday (4-3 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in Portugal). Paulo Dybala led Ranieri's side to victory with two goals on the night.
Should Athletic advance, they would face the winner of Fenerbahçe SK vs Rangers FC in the quarter-finals, with the second leg being played at San Mames. If the Lions reached the semi-finals, the first leg would take place at The Cathedral.
