David Aznar leaves Athletic Club
The Athletic Club Women head coach parts ways with the club after two seasons in charge of the Lionesses
Athletic Club Women head coach David Aznar will leave his post once his contract comes to an end this June.
Aznar arrived at Lezama in the summer of 2023 and has completed a two-season cycle at the helm of the women's first team, in which he has revitalised the squad and moved them back towards the top of the table.
In his first season, Athletic finished fifth in Liga F on 53 points, and had the third best home record in the league. The Lionesses also reached the semi-finals of the Copa, where they were eliminated by FC Barcelona despite a good performance.
This year, Athletic came fourth on 51 points, our highest league finish since the 2017/18 season. The only blemish was an early Copa exit against CP Cacereño.
