Athletic to face PSV Eindhoven in pre-season friendly

Athletic Club will face Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven in a friendly match at the Philips Stadion on Saturday 26 July (17:30 CEST).

PSV are a well-established Champions League side, having reached the Round of 16 last season, where they were knocked out by Arsenal after eliminating Juventus in the play-off round.

Under Peter Bosz, PSV staged a great comeback to surpass Ajax on the final day of the season and win their 26th league title. They boast experienced players such as Luuk De Jong and Ivan Perisic, as well as rising stars such as Malik Tillman, Noa Lang and Johan Bakayoko.

It will be Athletic's fourth friendly against the Dutch team, who have played twice at San Mamés, the first time in 1978, with the Lions winning 4-2.

The Rood-witten (Red and whites), with a squad featuring the likes of Eric Gerets and Ronald Koeman won the European Cup in 1988, beating Benfica on penalties.
