Bravery: Athletic Club's 2025/26 away kit
Next season's away shirt comes in the colour blue, which, like our sense of bravery, has been a part of Athletic's history from the beginning
Athletic Club's Castore away kit for the 2025/26 season is now available for purchase the club's online stores and our official retail outlets.
Designed with breathable AerTek fabric, this is a bold reinvention of the Lions’ traditional blue kits.
Without bravery, Athletic Club wouldn't be what it is. Bravery comes to the fore on the high seas, when storms rage and great waves threaten to sink the ship. This is when bravery becomes the ultimate virtue.
Athletic experienced this in the 1930s when the Spanish Civil War destroyed a dream team and we had to start again from scratch. We experienced this in in the 90s when the Bosman Law changed football forever. And we experienced it again in 2007 when we were in danger of being relegated right up until the last match of the season.
When we board La Gabarra, or qualify for the Champions League, it's because we approached the darkest moments with courage, without sacrificing our values and an identity that makes us Unique In The World.
This season our away strip will be blue, a colour that has been part of Athletic's history since its origins. Like the sea, sometimes it's murky, sometimes it's clear. Like the sky, sometimes it's cloudy and overcast, but sometimes it's bright and radiant.
From that first half-white, half-blue strip, to the blue 'heritage' shirt released for our 125th anniversary, Athletic Club have donned blue shirts on several occasions.
We wore an all blue kit for the first time in 1969, with it becoming the colour of our away kit until 1995, and then again from 1998 until 2005. After that we've adopted all blue kits many times since: 2008/09, 2010/11, 2013/14, 2018/19, 2023/24 and 2024/25
Athletic wore blue in the first leg of the 1977 UEFA Cup final against Juventus, in 2004 during our biggest ever biggest European win, against Standard Liege, and we were in blue last season as we sealed fourth place with a victory over Valencia CF.
Next season our Lions will play away in blue once again. And they'll do so with the same bravery that has always exemplified our club.
The jersey comes with an Ikurriña symbol on the back which is fused with an 'eguzkilore', a thistle flower common in the Basque Country which represents protection.
Because those who are brave also need protection from misfortune, injury and other adversities.
