Robert Navarro: "I'm here to help with my work and humility"

During his official presentation at San Mames, the forward says he will bring "versatility and quality" to the Lions' attack

New Athletic Club signing Robert Navarro admitted he is eager to get straight into the thick of it after joining up with his new teammates for the 2025/26 pre-season.

The forward, who can play in any position behind the striker, has come to Athletic on a free transfer after his contract at RCD Mallorca expired at the end of last season.

"Joining Athletic is a big step in my career," he said at his first press conference.

"It is a very important project and I'm coming with the desire and enthusiasm to contribute. The confidence that was shown in me from the very first moment was the key."

"I want to help with my work and humility, which I have always had. I'm really looking forward to working and paying back all the positivity I've received."

With experience in the top flight and having played for different youth teams around the world, Navarro is ready for a jump to the highest level.

He added: "I've played alongside many players who are now in the squad. I can play on both wings and in the middle. It's good for me and for the coach to be able to choose where to place me. I'm comfortable in all three positions and I'll try to do my best wherever I'm placed."

The newest Zurigorri player was accompanied by the president, Jon Uriarte, and the director of football, Mikel González. Both agree that Navarro will add talent to the team.

"Nowadays opponents let us run less and give us less space," Mikel said.

"In that context, Robert is brilliant and he is also very fast. We think he's a piece we were missing, we've completed the squad we have at a very high level with one more outstanding piece."
