The 3,800 fans travelling with Athletic for our first Champions League away day of the season will meet at Alter Markt square in the German city
Athletic Club will be backed by 3,800 fans when we face Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday, October 1, our first Champions League away fixture of the season.
In order to improve fans' travel experience and make entering the stadium easier, the German club has shared the following information with Athletic Club:
Meeting point: The meeting point for Zurigorri fans is Alter Markt (the Old Market), an area with several bars and restaurants. Taxis can be found there in addition to the Stadtgarten underground (U-Bahn) station, from which fans can travel directly to the stadium by taking the U45 and U46 to the Westfalenhalle/Stadion stop.
Pre-match activities with Borussia Dortmund: Athletic Club, together with BVB, have organised a fan event starting at 10:00, which will include: Walking Football with Gurpegui as captain at Dortmund's facilities, planting an oak tree and further activities. More info.
Youth League fixture: Our Under-19 teams will face each other at the Dortmund Brackel Training Ground Stadium, with kick-off at 16:00.
Signal Iduna Park gates open times: The stadium will open its gates two and a half hours before kick-off (18:30). We recommend arriving well in advance to speed up your entry to the stadium and avoid last-minute crowds.
Ubicación en el estadio: Fans with standing tickets: sectors 60 and 61. Fans with seated tickets: sectors 70 and 75. In both cases, all Zurigorri fans will be located in the Signal Iduna Park's north stand. Athletic will not be able to provide support or assume responsibility for tickets that have not been purchased through the club's official channels.
Entering with bags and rucksacks: Bags or rucksacks larger than A4 size (more than 15 cm deep) are not permitted. Those who need to, can use the cloakroom provided for visiting fans, which is located on Strobelallee, opposite the entrance to the away stand. This service opens two and a half hours before kick-off and closes 45 minutes after the end of the match. The cost is €0.50 per item.
Other items not permitted inside the stadium: Cameras with interchangeable lenses and tripods, fireworks of any kind, bottles, food and drink of any kind, selfie sticks. For more information on prohibited items at the Signal Iduna Park, please refer to the stadium regulations.
Flags, tifos and similar items: Flags and tifos: these must be authorised in advance. A complete request (text, size, material, etc.) must be submitted in writing to the home club at least one week before the match. In all cases, fire safety regulations must be complied with.
Private buses: Coaches transporting supporters must pick up and drop off passengers in car park E3 as it is not permitted in the vicinity of the stadium.
Public transport in Dortmund: From the central station, local trains connect to Westfalenhalle and Signal Iduna Park stations (a three-minute walk from the stadium). By underground (U-Bahn), take lines U45 and U46 to the Westfalenhalle/Stadion stop. By bus, the recommended line is number 450.
