Valverde: "We want to end the week on a high note"

This is what the gaffer said before the Lions host Getafe CF in Bilbao on Saturday evening

Ernesto Valverde is planning for a ‘tough and difficult’ match against Getafe CF, but wants to see his players take advantage of the positive momentum from their 3-1 Champions League win over Qarabag FK.

The Lions face Jose Bordalas' Azules at San Mames on Saturday evening at 18:30 CEST, always a complicated encounter.

"We have an opportunity to end the week on a high note," Valverde said at his pre-match press conference.

"Beating Qarabag the other day has given us a significant morale boost. We're still recovering, but this match is coming up fast and there's not much time to think about anything else."

When asked about Getafe CF, the gaffer admitted he isn't expecting any suprises, stating that "Bordalas' teams have a recognisable style".

He added: "All the top flight sides have their own style and plan. Getafe's determination make matches very tough.

"We know what to expect. It will be tough and difficult, like all matches against them, because they're very competitive. In recent years, they've caused us many problems.

"Getafe don't hold back. They try to press high up the pitch and stop you from playing. They're a team that always pulls together."
