Athletic Club takes it methodology to Japan

‘Athletic Club Training Camp Japan 2026’ will bring the Lezama philosophy to young Japanese footballers in a unique experience based on learning, hard work and values

Athletic Club is heading to Japan with a training programme that exports the essence of the club's model: Athletic Club Training Camp Japan 2026.

This initiative will give Japanese youngsters a first-hand look at a methodology that has made Athletic a unique club in the world, with over 125 years of history and an identity based on developing local talent.

Athletic Club Training Camp Japan 2026 will take place at three different venues (in the cities of Chiba, Kanagawa and Osaka) in early January next year. It will begin in Chiba on January 6th and 7th, move to Kanagawa on January 9th and 10th, and conclude in Osaka on January 11th and 12th.

During two days of intensive training, participants will enjoy sessions led by Athletic Club coaches, with a focus on guided learning, individual development and teamwork. Through this experience, the young players will learn what it means to belong to an organisation that competes at the highest level whilst remaining true to its philosophy.

Training Camp footballers who wish to take advantage of this opportunity will also be to participate in an Athletic Club Stage programme, which will take place at the Lezama facilities for one week. In Bilbao they will train like Athletic youth players do on a daily basis, in a high-performance environment where footballers such as Nico Williams, Unai Simón and Iñaki Williams came up through the ranks.

Through Athletic Club Training Camp Japan 2026, organised in collaboration with local partner Wakatake Group, a company with extensive expertise co-ordinating these types of events in Japan, participants will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the Athletic experience without leaving Japan. At the same time it offers Athletic Club a chance to strengthen cultural ties through football, values and a passion for sport.
