Ernesto Valverde praised his players after Athletic's 2-1 win against Elche at San Mames on Friday night.
A Gorka Guruzeta brace, with his second goal coming from the penalty spot, secured a third consecutive LaLiga win for the Lions.
"Our idea in the second half was to maintain the pressure we had applied at the start," Valverde said in his post-match press conference.
"In the final push we got the penalty and the goal. It's a very important victory."
The Lions have now won three consecutive LaLiga matches. Athletic are eighth in the standings on 34 points and can now start to "look ahead".
Valverde continued: "We still have work to do. Right now, we are only focusing on the next match against Rayo Vallecano."
The coach highlighted his team's attitude in the face of adversity: "We have something in this team that we must maintain: persistence. That's how we were able to win."
