Purple San Mames, mosaic and special armband for International Women's Day

Athletic Club has arranged various events taking place around the LaLiga match against FC Barcelona to celebrate March 8

San Mames will be lit up in purple this Saturday to mark International Women's Day, which is officially celebrated on Sunday 8 March.

Athletic will join the March 8 celebrations during our LaLiga match against FC Barcelona with various symbolic actions to highlight the role of women within the Athletic family and the club's commitment to gender equality.

Before kick-off, the video San Mames video scoreboards and the exterior screen will show a special video created for the occasion.

In addition, the stewards working at the entrance gates will wear purple berets, while a pre-match mosaic in the East Stand will spell out "ATHLETIC CLUB" in purple.

On the pitch, the first-team captain will wear a special armband with a purple dot embroidered on it.

The activities will conclude with another gesture visible from outside the stadium. After the match, San Mames façade will be lit up in purple, projecting the phrase ‘ATHLETIC GU GARA’ (We are Athletic) and then ‘ATHLETIC 8M GARA’ (Athletic is March 8).
