100 grassroots clubs to celebrate Euskal Non-League Day 2026 this weekend

Euskal Non-league Day 2026 is taking place this weekend at the home grounds of over 100 Athletic-affiliated clubs across the Basque Country. Under the slogan ‘Where It All Begins’, Athletic Club is encouraging all Zurigorri fans to join this grassroots football celebration by attending their local team’s matches. 

For Athletic, acknowledging the importance of grassroots football, as represented by our partner clubs, is essential. With the men’s LaLiga on an international break this weekend, this is the perfect opportunity for non-professional clubs to gain recognition for their sporting and social contributions to the communities they serve.

Special activities with former Athletic players

Once again, the participating clubs have thrown themselves into celebrating Euskal Non-League Day and have organised various events alongside their matches. 

Indeed, many clubs have arranged community meals, set up marquees to sell pintxos, decorated the stands, organised team parades and flag-raising ceremonies, or installed bouncy castle and play areas to make the event as family-friendly as possible.

What's more, some former Athletic players are expected to attend some of the fixtures.


Exciting giveaways at every Non-League Day match

It is worth noting that fans attending matches at participating the Non-League Day clubs will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and take part in the giveaway organised by Athletic Club to support grassroots football. 

Each raffle ticket costs €3 and entitles the holder to enter two prize draws: a local draw held at each ground during half-time, and a general draw across all clubs, which Athletic will hold next Monday, 30 March.
 

Local raffle: two San Mamés match tickets at each ground

Each local raffle will offer two tickets to a LaLiga match at San Mamés next season as a prize. In other words, as 100 participating clubs are involved, 200 tickets will be raffled off.
 

First prize: a trip with the men’s first team to an away match

The top prize consists of two tickets, travel and accommodation for two people to attend an away LaLiga match alongside the first men’s team. This top prize will be drawn from among all participating partner clubs.
 

Second prize: two Players Zone VIP tickets

The second overall prize is a pair of Players Zone VIP tickets for a LaLiga match at San Mames. This includes VIP seats located next to the dugouts and access to the stadium’s VIP ring from an hour and a half before kick-off. This prize will be drawn amongst all the participating partner clubs.
 

Third prize: A double meet-and-greet at Lezama with the Lionesses
