Álex Berenguer arrived from Torino FC to reinforce Athletic Club’s attacking options just after the 2020-21 season had already started.
Originally from Navarre, Berenguer’s best performances for the Italian club came when he was out on the left wing. However, he can also play on the right flank and, due to his ability to thread through-balls, he is a capable attacking-midfielder.
During his two seasons in Turin, he played in over 80 Serie A matches, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
One of Alex’s greatest strengths is his direct style, he loves to take on his marker, cutting in on his right foot and troubling the keeper with his powerful shot. Whilst turning out for Torino, Berenguer also became something of a free-kick specialist.
The winger also has plenty of LaLiga experience, in 2016-17 he played almost 30 matches for his first club, CA Osasuna.
