Born in Zarautz to a Basque father and Mexican mother, Alex has already represented Mexico at Under-23 level. The young keeper joined Athletic as an Under-16 and played for CD Basconia and Bilbao Athletic before making his senior debut in 2024/25.
He signed a contract extension and went out on loan to Mexican side Pumas. Alex returned to Athletic at the start of the 2025/26 campaign to replace the outgoing Julen Agirrezabala.
A brave, agile shotstopper who's comfortable with the ball at his feet, Padilla has a promising future ahead.
