A midfielder with great presence and clarity, Mikel Jauregizar has become a vital player for Athletic. Since breaking into the first team in 2023/24, the youngster has progressed rapidly.
Mikel made his full debut in the 2023/24 Copa against CD Cayón and then got his first LaLiga appearance against Atlético de Madrid at San Mamés that same season.
He fully established himself in 2024/25, making 48 appearances and scoring three goals in all competitions, including a now famous strike against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
An all-round midfielder, he's ability to play several roles in the middle has made him indispensable. He's equally comfortable playing deeper or running box-to-box.
A boyhood Athletic fan, Mikel recently renewed his contract until 2031 and this season inherited the no.18 jersey at the request of it previous incumbent, former captain Oscar de Marcos.
