Arriving at Lezama as a 10-year-old, the younger Williams brother has been making steady progress ever since.
The pacy winger has quickly become a fan favourite at San Mamés. He made his first-team debut in 2020-21 but truly broke on to the scene last season, making a total of 34 appearances, including some stellar performances.
Nico got his first senior goals with a brace against Mancha Real in the Copa del Rey and followed that up with the winning strike in Athletic's Spanish Super Cup semi-final victory over Atlético Madrid.
Equally comfortable on both flanks, Nico is a full-back's worst nightmare. He has bags of pace and confidence, while his ability to use both feet means he can either cut in or drive to the byline with ease, making him an unpredictable opponent for any defender.
Last season, Nico established himself as one of the best wingers in the world. Aside from being crucial to Athletic's Copa triumph and Europa League qualification, Williams was the star player at Euro 2024, scoring the opening goal during Spain's victory over England in the final.
Nico signed a contract extension keeping him at Athletic until 2027.
