Oihan Sancet is one of the brightest attacking talents to emerge from the Lezama Academy in recent history. The playmaker made his debut for the first team in the 2019/20 season and Athletic Club fans are beginning to see him reach his full potential.
Sancet has become a top-class attacking midfielder. A physical player with great speed, a powerful shot and a good eye for the pass, Oihan also has great tactical awareness and loves to make intelligent runs into the box.
Oihan joined Athletic as a 15-year-old in the 2015/16 season. Except for a serious injury in 2018/19, the attacking midfielder rose through the youth ranks with ease and made his debut for the Lions in the first game of the 2019/20 season against FC Barcelona.
His game took another step forward in 2024/25, as he netted a fantastic 17 goals in all competitions, making him one of the highest-scoring midfielders in Europe.
His equaliser in the 2023/24 Copa final against RCD Mallorca was one of the most important goals in our club's history.
Oihan delighted the San Mamés fans by announcing a new long-term contract after a LaLiga match at The Cathedral. This new contract will keep him in Bilbao until 2032.
