A great Olga Carmona goal sinks Athletic
Real Madrid's classy comeback from Nahikari's goal in a game that had the lionesses in the lead

It was not possible. Real Madrid imposed the class of their captain Olga Carmona to take three points on their first visit to San Mamés that were key to Athletic's European dream. Nanclares, with her usual saves, held David Aznar's side until the Sevillian, who had laid the bouquet of flowers for Pitxitxi, put her side ahead with an unstoppable lob from 25 metres out.
Things could not have got off to a better start for Athletic. Nahikari forced a penalty that she herself converted, beating Misa. It was the ninth minute and the lionesses, with Zubieta in control, were not suffering too much.
But then, of course, Scotland's Weir went for a stroll with her left foot and sent a shot against the post after a great turn in the 32nd minute. These were moments of agony for David Aznar's team, who would end up conceding the equaliser from a corner touched in the near post that France's Lakrar sent into the net.
The whole of the second half was left to try and take a step forward. The Zurigorris had the support of the 16,662 fans in the stands in their favour. However, Real Madrid began to create dangerous chances midway through the second half, with Caicedo on the pitch, and Nanclares made different kind of saves to Toletti, Athenea and Alba Redondo. Until Carmona's invention ended the uncertainty. Athletic end their three-match tour of San Mames on a high note for the future.
