The lionesses keep adding points in the league after a match where they levelled the score not once, but two times. Bearing in mind that the Copa fixture is near, Ángel Villacampa decided to rotate his squad and gave Nerea Navarro her first start. In addition to that, in the second half Naroa Uriarte made her debut in an official match with the first team and Amaiur Sarriegi took part in the game too. The three players from the reserve team who travelled to Seville surely made a contribution on the pitch.

The match started with a chance Maite Oriz had from outside the box. Both teams tested each other on the artificial grass pitch, seeking to take control of the game. The green-and-white side, through Piemonte, tentatively got near the goal a couple of times in the first stages of the game, until Priscila scored the first goal on 19 minutes. The veteran forward took advantage of an assist from Paula Perea to beat Andrea de la Nava. The response came with a long attempt fired by Maite Oroz with no success. The first half finished without any great chances and everything was yet to be decided.

After the break, the match took a different pace, especially for the lionesses, who increased their intensity a notch, clearly outdoing the side managed by Pier. Eunate had two chances to level up the score. But the clearest was the one Yulema had when she sent a strong shot over the bar. The equalizer was scored by Damaris, who beat Gerard on 68 minutes after an assist from Eunate. The draw did not last long, since Abam hooked a clearance into the net after sending the ball past a crowded box on 72 minutes.

However, Villacampa’s side never stopped having faith and after Valdezate had slammed a ball against the post, Yulema had her chance to make up for the opportunity she had missed before, intercepting the ball and drilling the hosts’ net on 86 minutes. Betis were then pinned back in their own box and Athletic could have won if Gerard had not grabbed the ball in the goal box at the last minute.

This is the fourth consecutive Primera Iberdrola fixture in which the team have picked up points, being unbeaten in their clashes against Betis at Luis del Sol. It is time for them to recover their strength and get ready for another tough battle, the Copa de la Reina quarter-final that is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday at 7.00pm at San Mamés.
