Levante UD - Athletic Club

A hard-fought victory for Athletic in their first Liga F match of the season. The Lionesses picked up three points thanks to a narrow win against Levante. The Zurigorri scored early and held on with the aid of a fantastic Adriana Nanclares performance.

Levante's Ivonne Chacón, whose pace caused Athletic issues all day, fired the first warning shot. But it was Oguiza who opened the scoring, the Lionesses midfielder finding the back of the net in the fourth minute with a cross-cum-shot.

Nonetheless, the hosts side were getting into the Athletic box with ease. Chacón made a mistake when through on goal and Nanclares was called upon to deny Levante several times.

In the 30th minute, Clara Pinedo forced a save from Holmgrem with a semi-volley. The game was wide open going in to the second 45.

Nerea Nevado blocked a Sosa shot on the line after the restart. There was also some controversy when a Lahmari shot went over the line but wasn't given.

Athletic needed to reorganise and tighten up against a team that constantly pushed forward for an equaliser. In the end, the Lionesess held out for a gritty win.
