Imanol Agirretxe

In relation to the present situation of our player, in the UNDER-15 category, Imanol Agirretxe, Athletic Club would like to publicly express the following considerations:

1- Imanol Agirretxe has, on numerous occasions manifested his interest for belonging to Athletic Club, as well as his satisfaction for the treatment received at the Lezama Sports Complex, since he was incorporated to the ‘roji-blanca’ discipline.

2- Despite this, the current player representative, Mr. Diaz, personally announced to Lezama’s General Manager, Mr. Fradua, in a meeting held 4 June, that Imanol Agirretxe would leave Athletic Club at the end of the current season.This decision is announced, in an unilateral way, and without possibility of negotiating.

3- Faced with this situation, and with the only intention of not falling into offensive comparisons, Athletic Club will call up those players that are most committed to the philosophy of this club for the Under-15 Spanish Championship’s final phase match that will take place in Albacete on 13-19 June.

4- Athletic Club would also like to express their disappointment for the departure of a player who has grown at our installations -sheltered by the work performed by the coaches, teammates, the medical department, and the psychologists that have cared for him.

5- Despite the aforementioned, our entity would like to clarify that it still considers it beneficial to continue to maintain, looking at the future, it’s current criteria with regard to the attention received by base football. Athletic Club needs players that are committed, that truly feel the colours and that show their pride in belonging to Athletic Club; and we are sure this is how the youngsters, that form the lower categories of the ‘roji-blancos’, think.
