Athletic Club 2 – Malaga 1: Superiority

The poor image of Valladolid has remained behind with a win against Malaga (2-1), the fourth consecutive in San Mamés. The goals of Urzaiz and Tiko have served to mend, for the first time this season, the early riser rival goal, in this case scored by Diego Alonso in the minute 3 of play.

The scoreboard against, the adverse weather conditions and the good play of the goalkeeper from Calatayud, all had to be overcome by the red-and-white team. In the first half, our team has enjoyed eleven occasions, four of them wasted by Calatayud, besides Ezquerro’s unjustly annulled goal.

In the second half, Duda has had the first clear option, but from there, Athletic has grown in presence and occasions. Urzaiz has scored the 1-0, in the minute 61, and ten minutes later Tiko has scored the final 2-1. Until the end, tranquility has been the dominant note.
