Gerd Müller, in Ibaigane

Gerd Müller, the mythical Bayern Munich forward of 1960 -70, visited Ibaigane accompanied by Daniel Ruiz-Bazán, Dani, and members of Athletic’s ‘Müller-Dani’ German Supporters’ Club.

‘The Bomber’ Müller, the most prolific goal scorer in the history of the Bundesliga with 365 goals scored in 427 matches, seven seasons as best striker, European Footballer of the Year in 1970, and second best scorer in the World Cup with 14 goals in two appearances, has received a memento from Athletic Club that commemorates his path through San Mamés: a framed photograph of the champion Bavarian team, winners of the ‘Athletic Club’s 75th Anniversary Trophy ‘, a match in which Müller left his mark by scoring a goal in the semi-final, as he did in the final disputed against Athletic Club.

In turn, Athletic’s ‘Müller-Dani’ German Supporters’ Club, have donated a Bayern Munich jersey autographed by the German player to Athletic Club’s Trophies & Exhibitions Hall.
