Anibal Uriarte Passes Away

Athletic Club first team player during the years 1946 and 1950, Anibal Uriarte Velasco, passed away this past 15 February in his home town of Barakaldo. A player of great projection, in the 1941-42 season Athletic Club followed his steps and even summoned him to a friendly match. The following year, when he was only 18 years old, he signed with Bilbao Athletic. He finally arrived at Athletic in the 1946-47 season, making his debut in official competition on 29 February 1948 in Oviedo, (Oviedo 2 – Athletic Club 2). It was an unforgettable encounter for Anibal since he scored a goal, his only goal in an official match with the rojiblanca jersey. In June 1950, he left Athletic Club.
