The Provincial Council and Athletic Club open San Mamés to all Bizkaia

Bizkaia is Athletic’s and Athletic is Bizkaia, of all Biscayans; as is also San Mamés….

Bizkaia is Athletic’s and Athletic is Bizkaia, of all Biscayans; as is also San Mamés. For that reason, the Provincial Council and the rojiblanco Club will open the doors to the stadium for everyone that wishes to visit during the two-day open doors which will take place this Thursday and Friday, 3 and 4 September. Concretely, Gate 19 will be opened to the general public with no need for ticket or previous reservation to access San Mamés, on a strict first-come, first serve basis and an ample uninterrupted schedule of 10: 00 in the morning to 20:00 at night.

The visit proposes a route that begins in the East Stands, continues to the North and Main Grandstand and concludes at Gate number 1, however, it does not include neither access to the pitch nor the locker rooms or rest of the facilities. Before leaving the field, however, all the fans will be able to obtain a memento that will accompany them forever: their photograph alongside the recent Supercopa trophy achieved by Athletic Club against FC. Barcelona.

In this initiative both the desire by the Provincial Council and Athletic to open San Mamés to Biscayan society, as that of the rojiblanco club to approach the Supercopa to its followers after the players dedicated the trophy to all of Bizkaia in the massive welcoming this past 18 August in Bilbao, hours after winning the title in the Camp Nou. The days also respond to the desire of General Assemblies of Bizkaia , that during the last legislature unanimously approved a non-norm proposal so that the Provincial Council ask Athletic for citizens that are not members could see the stadium, a request motivated by the investment of public money in its construction.
