At 18:00 hours will be screened the film ‘O futebol’ directed by Sergio Oksman. The film mixes real life and fiction and talks about the meeting between the director and his father Simão , when they decide to meet up after have not seen each other for over twenty years. Coinciding with the 2014 Football World Cup, Sergio returns to his hometown, São Paulo, with the intention of meeting up with Simão and spend the whole tournament with him, watching football like they did back in his childhood. Critics says this is one of the most intense, enigmatic and perfect jobs of the year.
Previously, ‘Watching the ball’ short film will be screened.
Afterwards, at 20:00 hours, the documentary ‘Geraldinos’, directed by Pedro Asbeg, which talks about the history of the legendary Maracaná Stadium. It was inaugurated in 1950, coinciding with the 1950 World Cup. Since its inauguration, Maracaná counted with a space called Geral (General), a space destined to the general public where any person could attend the match and express their opinion. With the reform for the Brazil 2014 World Cup, this space disappeared. Geraldinos (the name given to attendees to this zone or stand) documents the disappearance of these Stands, registering the ten last matches of its existence, allowing us a closer look of its components. The director, Pedro Asbeg, won the Audience Award for Best Film in the 2015 edition of the Thinking Football Film Festival with ‘Democracia em preto e branco’.
Pedro Asbeg will be answering the questions of the attenders after the emission of the documentary.
