Athletic Club presents its “team of chefs” 2017/18, aiming to also make San Mamés a gastronomic cathedral: Daniel García, Eneko Atxa, Fernando Canales, Jabier Gartzia, Josean Alija, Sergio Zarate and Zuriñe García.
Athletic Club intends to make San Mamés a place that brings together and appreciates the chefs, organisations, institutions, producers and schools that have made the cuisine of Biscay a world leader. For the last two seasons, Biscayan restaurants, which have been recognised with stars by the Michelin Guide, have taken part in this project. Restaurants such as Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao, Azurmendi (3*), Andra Mari, Etxanobe, Zarate, Zortziko and Boroa have simultaneously provided gastronomic services on match days in the San Mamés VIP Area.
It is a special project, one with which Athletic Club is aiming to play its part in the recognition of Basque gastronomy, by making San Mamés a meeting point in the “Biscayan Gastronomy Area”, with the very different world of football as a backdrop. In parallel to this, it is aiming to position San Mamés as a sports arena with a gastronomic proposition of international renown.
The San Mamés VIP Area is aiming to be a benchmark in the world of sport, bringing together football, passion, enthusiasm and culinary excellence, a true picture of what Athletic Club and Biscay represent.
