After the first visit made in 2014 by our players of the first women’s team in which the basis and the foundations of the project were laid, once again several technicians from the Athletic Foundation will travel from September 5th to 14th to the town of Jutiapa in Honduras to continue taking steps in the consolidation of this activity.

The Athletic Foundation carries out in the town of Jutiapa in Honduras, and in collaboration with the NGDO SERSO Honduras, a task that seeks to help the NGDO and education centers in the area to strengthen their educational programmes, using sports as a tool. The project continues growing year after year and currently, 95 girls and 71 boys from the San Viator educational center -the center that SERSO has in the municipality of Jutiapa- receive physical education activities aimed at improving the development of their motor skills.

This activity is aimed at boys and girls between 4 and 10 years and is completed with a sports initiation programme for other students from different schools in the area. In addition to the four schools that have carried out these works over the last two years -‘Pedro Nufio’ in the municipality of Jutiapa, ‘Victoria Contreras’ in the Papaloteca Village, ‘Marco Antonio Ponce’ in the Bomba Village and ‘Visitación Padilla’ in the Garifuna Village of Nueva Armenia- two new schools have been added to this project during 2018, the villages of Entelina and Tomalá. More than 400 children from 4th to 6th grade have participated in a program that includes other sports such as basketball and volleyball.

The technicians of Athletic Foundation that will get around Honduras will analyse, with the person in charge of coordinating the project in situ, the possibility of extending the range of action to more schools in the area. Besides, another of the objectives set for the third phase of the project to start in the next academic year is to improve the organisational structure of those school sports championships which already started this year, in order to make it possible to include the new participating schools.
