Letras y Fútbol (Literature and Football) 2018

The ninth edition of Letras y Fútbol, the literature and football meetings organised by the Athletic Club Foundation and the Regional Library of Biscay, which will take place on November 12, 13, 15, 19 and 20.

This year’s meetings will be attended by Simon Kuper, Philippe Claudel, Nacho Carretero, David Goldblatt, Manuel Vilas, Ana Malagón, Enrique Ballester, Anjel Mari Peñagarikano, Xabi San Sebastian and Laura Ferrero, who will talk about the relationship between football and literature and also about contemporary society from different perspectives and approaches. All these meetings will take place in the Sala Noble of the Regional Library of Biscay, except the meeting with Philippe Claudel, which will be held in the Sala Norte of San Mames Vip Area on 15th November.

Concurrently to these meetings, we will continue with the actions to promote reading, within the setting of Literature and Football, the Athletic Club Foundation has been developing for years. The first one is the publication of 20,000 units of the book ‘Talismana’, which consists of two stories, written for the occasion by the authors Katixa Agirre and Aixa de la Cruz. Both can be read individually and as two chapters of the same story.

Finally, Letras y Fútbol 2018 will once again feature this year’s Athletic Reading Club, a campaign promoting reading the Athletic Club Foundation has been running annually for the last four years. This is an initiative through which anyone can suggest via Letras y Fútbol website the reading of a book to Athletic players. Of all the suggestions received, each player chooses one and from that choice, the Foundation organises a reading club. The Athletic Reading Club extends throughout the season.
