After taking part in the league match against Sevilla FC, Iñaki Williams has become the fifth player in the history of Athletic Club to play 100 matches in a row with the red and white shirt in the aforementioned competition.

The first of this hundred took place in the 2015/16 season. Since that 34th day held on April 20th 2016, when the lions faced Atletico Madrid and Williams replaced Muniain in the 59th minute, the fast forwarder has participated in the league matches of that campaign, in all matches of the following two seasons (38 plus 38) 2016/17 and 2017/18, and in the 19 days of the current season.

With this mark, Iñaki Williams surpasses Venancio and José Ángel Iribar (both with 81), Zarra (83), Urkiaga (95) and keeps ahead only Argote and Zubizarreta (both with 103), Garay (104) and Carmelo (132, although this also has a second personal record of 98). Williams (15/6/1994) has achieved his record with only 24 years of age, which makes him the youngest lion to reach it.

As far as the history of the League is concerned, the absolute record lies in the defence of the real Sociedad Juan Antonio Larrañaga, who played 202 consecutive matches, and in second and third place there are two Basque goalkeepers: Arconada (188) and Zubizarreta (184), a record achieved between the 1984/85 and 1988/89 seasons but achieved with two different teams, first with Athletic Club and, later, with FC Barcelona.
