A weekend in the heart of the Castilian peñas

The AVE passed by what used to be an important railway junction and Venta de Baños may no longer maintain the commercial strength it once had thanks to its crossroads. What the passage of time has not managed to erase has been the link of the locality with the Athletic Club feeling. The Peña Venteña has maintained its identity since it was set up in 1997. On their way to Valladolid the red-and-white representation headed by the president Aitor Elizegi, the directive Itziar Villamandos or the incombustible Manolo Delgado, stopped and spent a good time talking with their peñistas and also with the members of the Peña de Paredes de Nava.

The Peña Palentina was waiting in the capital city of Palencia. The effort of its board of directors has allowed in the last two years to recover the red-and-white tradition that has always had a city historically linked to our land. That feeling has turned into 145 members and one of the strongest associations that has the Club in the north area. With the presence of the mayor Alfonso Polanco, several media and with other peñistas coming from Guardo or Leon… the sounds of the hymn of Athletic with the Church of San Miguel remembered that Palencia is also red-and-white.

In Valladolid the Peña Catedral de Downing Street was waiting. The Irish pub had became the day before in almost a base camp for all the red-and-white ‘expeditionaries’ who were encouraged to come to Pucela and collaborate with its colourful and festive atmosphere. Sunday ended in Medina del Campo, also with the presence of the directives Begoña Castaño and María Tato. Flavours of Duero fed with the arrival of more peñistas from Areválo or from Segovia capital, as well as Antonio Ventero and Dani El Escorial and Julián Olivares de Jesús el Txapela, the two delegates from a central area that continues to beat unstoppable in the Federation of Peñas.
