The brothers Michael and Jeff Zimbalist, directors of Nossa Chape, the film about the aerial tragedy of Chapecoense that won the Audience Award at the Thinking Football Film Festival 2019, have decided to donate the cash prize of the award to the project of another of the films presented at the competition, the documentary Freedom Fields, by the British director of Libyan origin, Naziha Arebi.

The film Freedom Fields tells a story about the former Libyan national team players, showing their struggle for the right to play in the middle of the conflict, surrounded by extremism and pioneering a country in transition.

To present the film, in addition to its director, the former captain of the Libyan team, Fadwa, came to Bilbao, and both met Michael Zimbalist, the award-winning director, during their stay in our city. Surely from this meeting, together with the viewing of the documentary, the decision of donating the amount of the Audience Award of the Thinking Football Film Festival 2019 to the charitable organization for the development of women’s sport in Libya HERA was born. Whoever wants to join and collaborate with this project, co-founded by Fadwa, the former captain protagonist of the file, can do it here.
