BertsoDerbia BEFORE THE ATHLETIC-REAL
Red-and-white Jon Maia and white-and-blue Maddalen Arzallus will sing a few verses before the derby
The sports bertsolaritza party, organised by the Athletic Club Foundation in collaboration with the Real Sociedad Foundation, will live a new edition next Friday from 2pm onward before the referee signals the start of the derby. The first exchanges of bertsos by the representatives of the both supporters will take place in Pozas, where, microphone in hand, the athletic bertsolaris Jon Maia, Onintza Enbeita and Xabi Paya, together with the white-and-blue Andoni Egaña, Maddalen Arzallus and Amets Arzallus, will demonstrate their ingenuity and passion for colours when faced with the thematic challenges posed by the gai-jartzaile Amaia Agirre.
Afterwards, at 9 pm, the bertsolari day will move to a stage located in the esplanade of San Mamés. It will involve Enbeitia and Paya, for Athletic, and Egaña and Amets Arzallus for the Real, because Jon Maia and Maddalen Arzallus will be reserved for the last session just before the start of the game, and inside the field.
BertsoDerbia has been held since 2012 and its main objective is to promote a healthy rivalry, in the conviction that, beyond competitive confrontation, culture and sport unite us.
