San Mamés, in garnet for some hours

The Stadium lit up in garnet between 20:00 and 20:30 in solidarity with World Ostomy Day.

San Mamés lit up yesterday, Monday October 7th, in garnet to show solidarity with World Ostomy Day and Ostomy patients. Between 20:00 and 20:30 the Stadium joined the cause and collaborated with ARGIA ( Association of Ostomy Patients of Bizkaia), a group that fights for a better quality of life for all the patients. Overall, it is estimated that in the Basque Country there are more than 3,000 ostomy patients, and 1,800 just in Bizkaia.

Ostomy is the result of a surgery that allows bodily waste to reroute from its usual natural path. The opening created by ostomy is called stoma, a world with Greek origin that means mouth. They are normally necessary when serious illnesses; cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease…
