The Athletic Club ladies’ team will face next Sunday to Real Sociedad in the fifth matchday of the Primera Iberdrola. After the competition break last weekend, the red-and-white players will return to the domestic competition to face the Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena (Sunday 13, 4.00 pm). It will be the fifteenth league match between lions and txuriurdin in Donostia, and the third to be played in the Real stadium.
The background is positive to the red-and-white ones, since of the 14 games played against the Real Sociedad players, 8 have been victories, 5 ties, and only in an occasion (season 2016-2017) the Athletic left defeated Zubieta by 2-0. The now called Reale Arena will again be the scene of the derby, as it was last year – when the then led by Joseba Aguirre tied 2-2 – and also two seasons ago, with a outstanding victory of Athletic Club by 1 to 4. Erika Vázquez, with 7 goals, and Nekane, with 4, are the most prolific in the scoring section in Donostia.
The Real Sociedad will arrive undefeated to a derby in which Ángel Villacampa’s team will try to give a twist to the last results in a visit with good memories for the red-and-white team.
